Born in Houston, Texas in 1974, I am a self-taught freelance artist. I was raised by two artistic parents who encouraged me to follow in their footsteps. At a young age, my imagination was fueled by growing up around NASA, watching the original Star Wars films, and reading classic literature such as The Hobbit, Dracula, and tales of Greek mythology. I draw upon these influences whenever I create my art.
I always use models and still life objects as references for my art and this fusion of real-life inspiration and classical influence culminates in my personal style of imaginative realism. My medium varies depending on the project, however, I love to work with pencils, watercolor, and pastel. Currently, I am teaching myself how to paint with oil. So far, I enjoy the challenge of it and how it pushes me out of my comfort zone.
In 1995, I established my business identity, Albrecht Illustrations, and then leaped "paintbrush first" into the illustration industry. My first professional show was NASFIC/Dragon-Con 1995, held in Atlanta, Georgia. Since then, my art has been shown at such prestigious shows as World Horror Con, World Fantasy Con, GenCon, Comic-Con SD, and World Science Fiction & Fantasy Con.
My works have also appeared in several magazine and gaming publications for such companies as White Wolf, DNA Publications, Stygian Vortex, Vajra Enterprises, and Dark Muse Comics.
Since 2005, I have resided in Austin, Texas with my two daughters, Rhiannon and Audrey, and our cat Daisy Anna. What I love most about Austin is that it is a small town with the culture, arts, and entertainment of a big city.
